Established in 1994 Surtal Asian Arts is a nationally recognised charitable arts company, based in Derby. The company plays a significant role locally and regionally in promoting appreciation and practice of diverse art forms originating from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. Surtal is committed to attracting culturally diverse audiences and increasing participation in high quality Asian arts, engaging other communities in an attempt to break down barriers and promote respect, understanding and tolerance.
Working closely with professional Artists, youth, community groups and other organisations, Surtal promotes and develops South Asian art forms though various services, from regular dance and music classes, and schools programmes to organising festivals and performance showcases.
