We recognise that the youth of today live in a unique society of hybrid cultures. This is reflected in the diverse range of music in our playlists, from Hip-Hop to Dubstep to Bhangra, and the unique sound of new British Asian music influenced by so many different cultures. Young people who partcipate at Surtal love the colour and beauty of authentic South Asian arts and the ways in which it can be mixed with other styles.
To keep the authentic culture alive we provide training in a whole range of art forms with professional artists. To fuel their creativity we provide free rehearsal space for Urban Asia, a creative fusion project managed and run by the young people themselves.
At Surtal we believe in discovering, nurturing and inspiring talent, which is why we also give young people the opportunity to be part of professional commission projects working alongside established artists. Check out images from out most recent project 'Bollyworld'.
Surtal Arts is an Arts Award centre with staff trained in delievering Bronze, Silver and gold Arts Award. This nationally recognised qualification is great for your CV and comes attatched with UCAS points to enhance your university application.
