Smaran (Remembrance) - An Indian Classical Music Concert
Time & Location
About the Event
India’s classical music is among the oldest musical traditions of the world, its soulfulness runs deep to all who experience it. You’re invited to a special evening with leading Indian music artist, Kaviraj Singh. Combining santoor and vocal elements in a unique blend of ragas in this intimate concert, it will be a homage to the courageousness of NHS and frontline workers and remembering the special lives lost during the pandemic. Accompanied by UK's leading percussionist Shabaz Hussain on tabla, the mesmerising music of Kaviraj, reminds us the changing climate that threatens the future stability of mother earth. and our collective hope for the future.
It is very appropriate that this concert will be performed against the backdrop of Joseph Wright’s work whose spectacular paintings signify the Age of Enlightenment, at Derby Museum and Art Gallery on The Strand.
Concert will be live streamed and so people who are unable to attend in person, can also watch it online. However, live streaming will be free for NHS workers and care homes in Derby, Nottingham and Leicester. If you are in these sectors and are interested watching this concert via live stream, please contact Surtal Arts.
Suitable for age 16+.
