LANTERN SCULPTURE COMMISSION 2024
Are you an aspiring artist or an art student based in Derby?
Do you want to be part of a citywide festival?
Can you commit some time and creative energy between July and October 2024?
We’re excited to be able to commission aspiring artists (non-professional, age 18+) to create large scale lantern sculptures using sustainable or biodegradable materials, that form a trail through some of Derby’s popular landmarks. Your work will be seen by thousands of people, be profiled in Derby Season of Light marketing and have the chance to be featured on a float at Derby Lantern Parade.
Check out the full brief below and apply by emailing office@surtalarts.co.uk. We'll assign the Derby landmarks to successful applicants and work with you to adapt your lanterns to the space. When looking at your application we'll be focussing on how well it fits the brief - in particular the sustainable materials used, connection to culture and community, size/structure and luminousness of lantern.
Theme: A World of Flowers
Commission budget: £450
Application deadline: 8 July 2024
