Lighting Up Kedleston
Surtal Arts always love creating or taking culturally diverse arts to weird and wonderful places. Therefore, we are delighted to be commissioned by National Trust to bring Diwali Festival of Light to one of Derbyshire's magnificent country houses -Kedleston Hall.
Diwali is the Indian Festival of Light, celebrated by millions of people across the world over five days every autumn - it celebrates triumph of light over darkness, knowledge over ignorance, good over evil.
In the Midlands, the National Trust are celebrating through 'Lighting Up' events and activities in Derby and Birmingham. Fiona Bridges, General Manager of Kedleston Hall National Trust, said: “We are very pleased to be collaborating with Surtal Arts from Derby, as we join in the celebrations of Diwali by bringing the wonderful tradition of Rangoli to Kedleston Hall. Diwali is a very special festival that brings people together and is hugely relevant for people today. The festival is a special time for communities across the region, so we are very pleased to be part of the region’s celebrations and look forward to welcoming visitors to our “Lighting Up events.”
